Glaucus atlanticus

Glaucus atlanticus, Play Guiones, Costa Rica 2012

The Glaucus atlanticus, also known as the blue sea slug or blue dragon, is one of the most beautiful and unusual sea creatures I have ever seen. This strange pelagic aeolid nudibranch floats upside down on the surface of the ocean and preys on the Portuguese Man o' War. The blue sea slug is able to store the venom of this dangerous jellyfish and uses it to produce an even more powerful sting of its own. Please CLICK HERE and HERE to learn more about this fascinating creature.
